Ditch the LBD

It’s so easy to feel safe in that little black number; but let’s be brave and put a little colour back into our lives. Why not try out three of these gorgeous shades, teal, papaya or amethyst Teal with it’s greenish blue hue will really make a statement especially teamed with the right accessories.

If you’re a working girl team a Porter Grey wool blend skirt from shopbop.com with a wool vest from Express.  In the evening try out a silk dress from Rebecca Taylor together with Nine West satin heels.

To really warm up the mood; try a smoldering shade in the form of hot papaya.  This vibrant shade teams up well with the more earthy shades of makeup such as Mac Art Eye Shadow in Notoriety. The stunning Lauren Moffatt silk dress stands on it’s own but can be warmed up when wearing Diane von Furstenberg cotton wool blazer, and accessorised with Liz Claiborne pebbled leather bag. If you feel a little shy to carry this colour off why not try some of the accessories such as David Aubrey gold plated brass glass and resin pearl earrings or a LAI crocodile belt.

Finally lets talk of that dramatic jewel of a colour amethyst.  Demonstrated by many celebrities this shade wow’s everyone. Suiting almost all skin tones it’s an easy option to wear, and looks good with smoky eyes with a shadow such as the Maybelline New York Expert Wear shadow in Night Sky.  Plum, purple or violet can all look good for accessories try a Motif leather belt Forever cotton scarf or some Wendy Mink jewelry. The Malo silk dress stands alone, but if you need a coat for chilly evenings the polyester faille coat by Ralph Lauren will keep you warm.

Three ways to wear the LRD

The LRD is the new LBD and offers a statement look that is just perfect for the festive season.  It will certainly add a little colour to those dull winter evening and looks great with this season’s much sought-after metallic accessories.

A great place to look for this season’s little red dress is online.  It beats going out in the cold anyway!  There are an assortment of high street chains that house online websites; it is also a great way to view a wide range of different attire, without having to fight a hoard of fashion hungry woman.

The LRD is definitely a must for any parties you may have on the cards and with Christmas and New Year fast approaching, we guarantee there are a few.

The LRD can also be altered from evening to daywear with a few little tweaks.  Think statement opaque tights, chunky knits, fur lined winter boot-heels and a few under layers for extra warmth.  This way you get two looks for the price of one!

Dark black nails look great with the LRD as they create a statement contrast and give the outfit a rock chick edge!

Opt for cut out detailing on the waist of the dress if you wish to create the image of a slimmer waist and team with uber high heels in order to create the appearance of longer legs.  Remember to bronze yourself with a hint of tan, add a few statement accessories and you are good to go!

Three ways to wear this nifty little number include doubling it up as a miniskirt by popping a cropped knit over the top.

Tone it down by hiding any cut out detailing with a chunky belt and go for the glam-grunge option.  Simply add a rock chick biker jacket to the ensemble and rock those caged ankle boots!

Fashion for the new season

From luscious layers to fab knits and statement fun furs, this season is all about stepping it up a notch and why not?  After all the winter months are usually a little gloomy, so what better way to heat them than a few wardrobe must-haves?

Think brighter colours such a ruby reds, fun furs in the shape of oversized items and fab accessories!

Winter doesn’t have to be about completely changing your wardrobe from brighter than bright to dark autumn tones!  Choose rich, warm tones instead.  Opt for post box reds in the shape of leather driving patent gloves, deep greens in the form of a mini satchel to keep all your beloved belongings in, a pair of statement knee high boots in a soft brown leather and accessorise with both fur collars and gold flower embellished jewellery.  The gold will compliment the autumn hues and the new season colours will add a lift to your usual dark brown and grey winter wardrobe!

The new season is all about glamming it up a little.  A staple buy for the winter months of course is a floor length coat.  Wear it with a skinny belt that cinches in at the waist in order to pull the whole outfit together!  Choose one that is smart enough to wear on an evening out but sophisticated enough to wear during the day to a lunch date with fiends or a shopping trip on a weekend away.

Boots are another must-have investment!  They are the shoes that get you through the cold months!  They are simple but effective and can be worn with an assortment of outfits, such as skirts and shorts as well as trousers and skinny jeans, both to work and out and about!

Ooze grunge glam this season

Grunge glam is back and hot on the wish list of fashion forward thinkers this year!

Think statement skull enthused scarves, random length dresses and of course, to finish it all off a distressed leather jacket!

Team with back-combed locks and super high heels, grunge boots or socks and shoes.

Grunge has always been in and is therefore a great trend to invest in!

Make-up should be kept statement but not too girly.  Forget pale pink lips and pastels, lose the tan and work dark smoky eyes.  Cheeks should opt for a deeper blush and this can be blended in well in order to create subtle colour.

Lip shades should be maroon or deep red and those that are feeling daring can go for an even darker shade such as black.

Casual Style for Men

Gone are the days when men would wear a suit every day, regardless of whether they were working. Today’s man likes his casual clothes, but still enjoys looking good. Fortunately, there is a vast selection of great clothes that are casual but not scruffy (unless you want that look) and will keep him looking as well as feeling great.
Men’s casual clothes can be broken into two categories – Denim and non-denim. That’s not to say there isn’t a lot of choice – there definitely is! Here are some key pieces to give you an idea what to go for:

Shoes
Carrying over from this summers’ preppy trend, boat shoes are still going strong for winter. Converse all star have the advantage that they go with anything and a pair of sturdy hiking boots are great for when the really cold and frosty weather starts and will ensure there are no nasty accidents.

Jeans
These are a staple of everyone’s wardrobe and are the most versatile items ever. For days when you have to be a little more clean-cut (or it’s freezing outside) a pair of blue jeans are perfect. Bootcut or straight leg are the most flattering on men.

Shirts/ Tees

Depending on personal taste, the casual shirt comes in many forms. Whether it’s cosy flannel or strokeable cotton, long or short sleeve there will be something that will suit everyone and every occasion. Add a fun touch with superhero or cartoon tees (you know you want to).

Hoodies
These can be used as a combination of sweater and jacket for the milder days or can be worn under a warm winter coat when the temperature really drops. Have a look at Joe Brown hoodies for a masculine style that you will love.

Coats
Military style is still going strong this winter and it’s a very flattering look. It will define those braod shoulder and flat stomach… or give you a little help in giving the illusion of them.
